The Ringwraiths, also known as the Nazgûl, are formidable antagonists in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth saga, The Lord of the Rings. They were once mortal men, kings, and sorcerers, who were corrupted by Sauron and given Rings of Power.
These Rings granted them prolonged life but ultimately enslaved them to Sauron's will. They became wraiths, invisible to most eyes unless they chose to reveal themselves, appearing as cloaked figures. They are Sauron's most feared servants, tasked with hunting down the One Ring.
The Ringwraiths first appeared in The Fellowship of the Ring, beginning their relentless pursuit of Frodo Baggins and the Ring. Their leader is the Witch-king of Angmar, a particularly powerful and terrifying figure.
